Day 24 – Behold His Glory
John 1:14 ESV
Focal Scripture: And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
According to Spurgeon: There were some that had the privilege of seeing Jesus. This however, did not guarantee salvation. Hearing him, seeing Him does not bring salvation. We need to walk by faith and not by sight. We need to place our faith in Jesus. Even the disciples that walked with him and were instructed by them needed the Holy Spirit to truly know Christ. That interaction on the day of Pentecost changed everything. That day, they experienced the glory of God. It is better to see Jesus by faith than by sight. True joy comes when God is always on our lips. Blessings come when Jesus is in our ministry. To truly walk with God you need faith. Hearing his word is not enough, many hear His word and turn away from Him. Our experiences feed our faith. When we are in deep waters and he comes to our rescue, our faith in Him is fed. When we are afflicted and He comes to comfort us, our faith is fed. In Christ we can live an everlasting life.
The Glory Of Christ Beheld -Sermon delivered Oct. 20, 1861
My Thoughts: John 20:29 “Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." It is a blessing to have seen Jesus. It is a bigger blessing to have been one of Jesus' disciples. But, the biggest blessing is to believe even when we have not seen. We were not there when He was born. We were not there when He died. We were not there anytime in between, yet we believe. This is the true blessing. We that did not see Him have received Him. Through faith we received Him. All that we do in this life should be fueled by our faith. If we stop to analyze the situation and not pray we cannot operate in faith. As we obey His will, we see God working in our lives. We see His ways are better than ours. We see the blessings that come through Him and our faith grows. This is the best blessing.
Prayer Note:
May we continue our walk with God in faith
May we exercise and grow our faith
