Day 21 – Born For This
Luke 2:10-12 ESV
Focal Scripture: And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”
According to Spurgeon: Jesus had a more complete human experience than Adam. Jesus came into this world as a baby. He knew what it was like to be a little, feeble child. He knew what it was like to die. Adam on the other hand came into this world as a man. Since Jesus was once a child, he can empathize with our simple, insignificant, childish cares. We don’t need to be afraid of a God who was once a baby. As the angel said, Jesus came to this world as the Savior. He is here to save us. We cannot look at our sin and shortcomings without immediately thanking Jesus for being our savior. As Luke 5:31,32 points out “...Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” the all powerful, Almighty God has stooped down to our level, so we can be saved and enjoy a life with Him, through His Son, Jesus.
God Incarnate The End of Fear -Sermon delivered Dec. 23, 1866
My Thoughts: Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” Rejoice because He is our Father. Rejoice because we have a Saviour. Rejoice when we are being sanctified. Rejoice when we are being tested. We have a God that experienced pain and joy. We have a God that knows what it is like to be human. We can approach Him always, with all things and know that He understands, on a very personal level, what we are going through. He came because he saw the sickness of sin in us and can heal us. He can help us be better and ultimately be reunited with Him in heaven.
