Day 16 – Goodwill Towards You

Luke 2:13-14 ESV

Focal Scripture: “And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth people among those with whom he is pleased!”

According to Spurgeon: When Adam fell, there was a division between God and humanity. Jesus coming as a baby in a manger brought peace between God and man. The message of Jesus is the only place that brings true peace. A peace that surpasses all understanding. No “good work” can provide this peace. No adherence to the law/rules can provide this peace. God’s kindness and good will towards us was displayed by sending His only begotten son to die for our sins. Even when we cursed and rebelled against Him, He still loved us. Ezekiel 33:11 shows us this love when God says, “As I live declares the LORD I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from this way and live.” Jesus, the manger and His death is the evidence of God’s great love for us.

My Thoughts: Some of us can recall a time when we were enemies of God. When we wanted nothing to do with Him. When we found Him cruel and unfair. Others simply wanted to chase their own desires.“As it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;”-Romans 3:10. Even those that call themselves good find that in comparison to God and His standards they are wicked. No one is good enough to attain salvation on their own merit. There is no work that can save. No law/rules can save. Thankfully we have a God that loved us first, even when we were in the world, following our own wisdom and desires, He loved us. He walked with us, working all things for our ultimate good, for our salvation. His love and patience allowed us to come to a point where we could see Jesus. Where we could see the baby in the manger and call Him our savior.

Prayer Note:

  1. A heart of Thanksgiving over our salvation

  2. A heart of gratitude and worship towards God and His love for us

  3. May we love others as God loves us.

  4. Pray for our loved ones’ salvation
