Day 14 – Sing For Joy

Luke 2:10 ESV

Focal Scripture: “And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”

According to Spurgeon: Let us rejoice and be happy in the birth of Jesus like the angels in heaven were on that day. Let us be a people with joy in our hearts and a smile upon our face. We have a lot to be happy about. We get to open the gift of salvation that is freely given. In this we can find great joy. We are no longer like the world, living in the pain and misery of our damnation. So in this time, during these days let us have nothing but total and complete joy.

Joy Born At Bethlehem-Sermon delivered Dec. 24, 1871

My Thoughts: We have a lot of reasons to experience joy. We have been adopted into God’s family by accepting salvation. A salvation that came through a baby lying in a manger. Regardless of our circumstances in life we are covered in blessings because we have the promise of eternal life. This fact alone should bring a smile to our face. Indeed we should be known as a joyous people. The world does not have what we have. They have a reason to mourn. Let not the world have greater joy than we do. Their joy is baseless and will not last. Let us always be thankful for Christ, have a cheerful heart and a smile upon our face.

Prayer Note:

  1. May we experience God’s true joy in our lives

  2. Share the gospel, spread joy
