Day 7 Laid In A Manger

Luke 2:7

Focal Scripture: “And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling  cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn,.”

According to Spuergeon: On one end the manger, on the other the cross. A peasant’s garb clothed Him. Fishermen were His friends. The lowly made into His disciples. The cold mountains his bed. All had a place to lay their heads, but not the Son of Man (Luke 9:58) He laid down His glory for us and was in a season of humiliation while on Earth. He was a servant. He was exposed to the calamities of poverty. He was born in a manger, presented to the world as the Prince of Peace, of our race. What was despised and chosen by God, Jesus,  will bring an end to “the might, pride and majesty of human grandeur”

No Room For Christ In The Inn-Sermon delivered Dec. 21, 1862

My Thoughts: Being the One most deserving of glory, honor and riches Jesus lived a very humble life. He didn’t have much in terms of material possessions. His friends and family were not people of high rank or authority. He was a servant. In this we see God’s heart and values displayed. What matters most is not what we have, but who we are. What matters most is our heart. May it be a servant's heart. May it be a loving heart. May it be a humble heart. May we be in agreement with God’s plan and purpose joining Him in the new Heaven and Earth. (Rev. 21:1)

Prayer Note:

  1. May we have a humble heart, a serving heart

  2. May we see and love people as God does
